Christmas in Lafayette: The Best Place to See Lights

By Paul Gardner | Events | Comments are Closed | 8 December, 2019 | 0

Christmas lights are one of the most exciting parts of the holiday season. Here in Lafayette, we have some outstanding Christmas lights displays that you and your family must check out before the season is over.

Acadian Village

One of the most iconic and breathtaking Christmas displays in Lafayette is at Acadian Village. There are over half a million lights shining bright throughout the village, including the fully lit Chapel. This year, LARC has enhanced the majesty of the lights displays with new animations.

As always, it’s more than just lights. There is also live entertainment, carnival rides, food, photos with Santa, holiday shopping, and more to make this an all-around Christmas celebration.

Noel Acadien au Village is open nightly from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m., weather permitting, through December 23. Admission is $8 for anyone over 5 years of age. All proceeds go towards supporting LARC and Acadian Village.

Lafayette Oil Center

Never to be missed are the christmas lights displays in the Lafayette Oil Center. Each year, Santa and his sleigh pulled by reindeer welcome visitors to the Oil Center to enjoy the lights that line Coolidge Boulevard. Though the Festival of Lights event was canceled this year, the displays are out and the lights are on for all to enjoy.

Downtown Lafayette

Downtown Lafayette has created the North Pole of Downtown at Parc International to put everyone in the Christmas spirit.

The parc features a 24-foot tall Official Christmas Tree of Lafayette; giant ornaments big enough to walk through; a live Christmas tree grove with trees decorated by local families; 2,000 feet of string lights; window displays in businesses in the area; and other Christmas decorations.

Parc International is open daily to the public from 10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. on December 6 – 21 for everyone to enjoy the magical Christmas and lights displays.

While these are some of the biggest displays in the city, don’t overlook the simple pleasure of taking your family for a ride through neighborhoods to find the best residential Christmas lights displays.
