Spring is here! It’s time to not only spring clean around the house, but also around the office. Here’s a checklist to help you knock the dust off, declutter, and bring your office and business back to life.
Declutter Your Office Files and Folders
The best place to start your spring cleaning efforts is your desk(s). Now is the perfect time to sort through papers and folders that have piled up on desks and in drawers over the last few months, discard any unnecessary paperwork, and file away important documents into a filing cabinet. You may also want to consider converting everything into digital files to make it easier to stay organized.
And don’t forget your car. As a realtor, you probably spend just as much, or more, time in your vehicle than your office. Make sure to declutter that “office” space as well.
Organize Your Email and Databases
When was the last time you cleaned up your email inbox and moved emails into proper folders? If your inbox isn’t clean and current, you can easily overlook important communications. Take the time to create folders and either delete or move emails that are no longer action items.
Your database is another digital tool that deserves a good spring cleaning. Make sure all the client and referral information, including contact information and notes, is current. Segment your list into groups based on priority so you can plan your outreach efforts accordingly.
Audit Your Online Presence
Your online presence is one of the most important marketing tools you have so take the time to audit your website, social media pages, and any other platforms on which you have a presence. Make sure all information is up to date and accurate. Check for grammatical and spelling errors. Refresh images and profiles to reflect the current state of your business.
Reassess Your Business Goals
When was the last time you gave attention to your short- and long-term business goals? It’s easy to lose sight of goals as you focus on the day-to-day tasks of running your business, but without those goals, how do you know if you are successful? Spend some time reevaluating your goals and ensuring your strategies and processes bring you closer to meeting them.
Reconnect with Clients
Your success in real estate depends on your ability to build relationships with clients and maintain those relationships even after a transaction. Past clients are key sources for referrals, so it’s important to stay in touch with them. Send an email or make a phone call to simply say hello and let them know you are available to them if they need anything.
Reevaluate How You Spend Time
Your time is invaluable. How are you spending it? Are you maximizing it with activities that will produce the most revenue? Are you wasting it on clients and activities that are draining your days instead of leading to production? Now’s a good time to rework your days to ensure you are using your time most effectively.
Assess Your Attitude
Another factor to success is satisfaction in your work. As you are clearing out your office, also clear out your mind and make sure you are happy in what you are doing. The right attitude about work will help you stay motivated to get the job done.
Spring is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. So take a deep breath and let the sunshine in as you refresh and recharge your real estate business this spring.
