As real estate agents, you spend a lot of time in your vehicle and a lot of that time is with clients.
Below are some quick tips you may not have considered that is guaranteed to show that you are professional, hospitable and considerate.
Looking and Smelling Good.
Make sure your car is clean and it smells good. Consider your customer’s experience in your vehicle almost the same way you might a client walking into an office. Jim Gelespy of Realty Times points out:
“Your car makes a statement about you the moment people see it. And since you’re in a business where you’re driving people around on a regular basis, your car will make an even bigger statement to people. After all, they’ll be riding around in it with you for hours.”
You might even consider keeping cleaning items on hand. Matthew from Agent Basics recommends keeping an air freshener, paper towels and a mini vacuum in your glove box.
“Many real estate agents live out of their cars (well, figuratively) because of their hectic schedules. That means lots of eating on the go and leaving old food and drink containers in their vehicles. Eliminate any “off” smells (and that’s putting it politely) with an air freshener. For liquid messes, like those countless times you’ve spilled your macchiato or green tea, having plenty of paper towels can be a godsend.”
Five Star Service
Have you ever been to a five star hotel to be overwhelmed by how accommodating it was? You can create a similar environment with very little effort. Your clients will feel completely catered to.
USB Chargers
Consider having a USB charger so that not only will your phone (read lifeblood) always have a full charge, but your client’s as well. If they are planning to be in your car for hours, it’s likely they’re phone could die.
Wifi Hotspot and Tablet
Mobile Hotspots are becoming cheaper and can know be bundled in with most cell phone plans. This could offer a significant wow factor for your customers when you give them access to a wifi enabled tablet to use during the ride or an internet connection that doesn’t drain their data plan.
Snacks
Everyone loves snacks. We’ve all seen the Snickers commercials that illustrate so well how we can become different people when we’re hungry. Keep a few different snack bars or chip bags and keep everyone being their best self.
Pens and Notepad
Despite our addiction to our phones, a lot of people still find comfort in writing info on scratch paper. Having a place for your client to jot down private thoughts and notes can keep the clutter out of their mind and onto the paper to reference later.
Make them feel at home
Getting into someone’s car can feel a lot like stepping into their home for the first time. Break the ice by communicating that they are welcome to make themselves comfortable.
Mention things like, “Please let me know if you want to adjust the temperature. Feel free to adjust it yourself”. You might ask what radio station they’d like or if music is making it hard for them to hear conversation.
Communicating passenger preferences is one way, displaying control and safety is another. Many people feel anxious when others drive. Remove any distress by simply obeying speed limits, approaching stops with plenty of room, and NOT texting or looking up information on your phone while driving.
