Become a Real Estate Industry Advocate!

By Paul Gardner | Uncategorized | Comments are Closed | 22 May, 2017 | 0

The month of May is Realtor Advocacy Month! So we’re turning our attention to ways that we can make sure the laws of the land protect our industry.

Below are four ways to get a pulse on what our current political leadership is doing, and organizations that welcome your voice through membership.

The Louisiana Homeowners Resource Center

What They Say About Themselves.

The Louisiana Homeowners Resource Center, an initiative of the Louisiana REALTORS Association, provides information about real estate trends and about government action that affects the value of real estate and private property rights in Louisiana. This REALTOR-Homeowner partnership helps insure unified representation on the issues that impact real estate at the state and local levels.

Why You Might Want To Be Involved.

By signing up at the Louisiana Homeowners Resource Center, you stay informed of all the latest developments relating to real estate taxes, property assessments, key economic development projects, transportation, schools and many other issues impacting your home, neighborhood, and way of life.

The Realtor Party

What They Say About Themselves.

The REALTOR® Party is a powerful alliance of REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associations working to protect and promote home ownership and property investment. The REALTOR® Party speaks with one voice to advance candidates and public policies that build strong communities and promote a vibrant business environment.

Their website is packed with information on issues and action steps concerning legislation effecting Real Estate.

Why You Might Want To Be Involved.

The Realtor Party is the premier organization when it comes to a central focus on advocacy for the Real Estate Industry. They bring to light issues facing communities nationwide. They serve as a great resource for bringing ideas to our local advocacy initiatives, as well as, giving attention to federal legislation that can have a direct impact on the industry. If you want to be on the front lines of advocacy, this is the organization to follow.

One Acadiana

What They Say About Themselves.

We know achieving our full potential will require a collaborative approach, which is why we value inclusion. We welcome members, investors, and community partners to work with Acadiana’s policy-makers in forging alliances and advancing solutions.

One Acadiana has an entire department for local advocacy and has set a clear agenda of 2017 priorities. http://www.oneacadiana.org/sites/default/files/2017-03/2017_Legislative_Priorities(for_web).pdf

Contact their office to see the best way to join those conversations.

Why You Might Want To Be Involved.

One Acadiana is making a strong effort to influence local politicians on behalf of the interest of its members and the business community at large. This quote from Rep. Stuart Bishop, District 43, makes an attractive appeal for why Real Estate Industry leaders would want to have a voice at the table at One Acadiana, “One Acadiana is changing the way our Legislative Delegation interacts with the regional business community. This level of collaboration is something we’ve never experienced before – I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Acadian Home Builders Association

What They Say About Themselves.

One of the functions of the Acadian Home Builders Association is to be the voice of its members when it comes to important legislative issues. AHBA monitors the interests of the home building industry by supporting pro-housing legislation on the local, state, and national levels. The Association serves as a political watch dog and advocate for both consumers and home builders.

Being apart of an organization that is on the front lines of the community impact of legislation allows you to make sure you are aware of issues that may change how you do business.
