Life-Changing Events That Move the Housing Market

By Paul Gardner | Industry Topics | Comments are Closed | 8 January, 2024 | 0

The real estate market is challenging for both buyers and sellers right now. Mortgage interest rates are still high so a lot of people who might have been considering selling their homes are postponing those plans. Buyers who would have entered the market are also hesitating because of the lower supply, higher home prices, and high interest rates. Those people are choosing to stay out of the market until conditions are more favorable for them.

There are those, however, who have no choice but to look for a new home. That’s because a life event – birth, death, marriage, divorce, or retirement – is forcing them to make a change. When these things happen, you are going to want to enlist the help of an experienced real estate agent to help you find the perfect property for your changing situation.

If you are going to need to buy a new home to meet your new needs, a real estate agent can help you by giving you insights into the local housing market and different areas in that market. They can also work to find you a new property that fits your budget and preferences, which takes the stress of the process off of you. They can also help you negotiate a good purchase price. In short, they can help you transition smoothly into your new phase of life.

If you find yourself needing to sell your house, a real estate agent can assess your home’s market value and help you set a good but reasonable asking price. They can also suggest home improvements to bring up your home’s value and make it more appealing to buyers. They will list the home for you and market it on your behalf. When it comes time to negotiate a final purchase price, their negotiation skills will make sure you get a fair price for the property so you can focus on what’s next in this new chapter of life.

You can certainly do either or both of these on your own, but if you are already adapting to a major life-changing event, do you really want to go it alone if you don’t have to? A real estate agent can be the perfect partner to ease the stresses of the process so you can focus on other, more important things.
