What Realtors Can Learn From The Super Bowl

Sunday night’s performance just reaffirmed the age old adage that “it ain’t over til’ it’s over.” Nothing can be more true in Real Estate.

As experienced title attorneys, we’ve seen first hand how true it is that until you’ve signed the closing papers the deal isn’t done.

As a professional, it is important to remember this truth and make sure you are following processes and procedures diligently each and every time – even when you may think it’s not as crucial. Be thorough in your contracts and never make costly assumptions.

Tom Brady was quoted saying “We never felt like we were out of the game.” As a real estate professional, your clients are counting on you to stay focused throughout the entire process.

It Takes A Lot Of Coordination

For some, the halftime show is what the Super Bowl is really all about. A fascinating thing about this show is how quickly the arena is transformed into an epic concert venue in just a matter of minutes. It took a lot of forethought, precision, and skill to fly Lady Gaga in with a dramatic performance. There were a thousand details that no one ever saw.

The same is true in Real Estate. Great Realtors handle all the “behind the scene” details for their clients. There are many phone calls, appointments, and planning required to get to the closing table. The more that is orchestrated beforehand, the better the experience is for the client.

It’s A Huge Moment For Some

One of the coolest moments of the Super Bowl is always watching the players meet up with their families after the game with hugs, kisses and tears flowing. It’s truly a magical moment because for the home buyer, it means the world. For those watching, it’s sweet but not with a fraction of the same emotion.

Selling real estate is often a very big deal for our clients. This is a big moment. We’ve been at the closing table and have seen it all. Hugs, kisses, tears, and champagne. Closing on a major investment has a huge impact on a family.  And even though it’s something we do everyday as professionals, we have to remember how special it is for our clients.

Even The Best Still Don’t Close Everytime

Real Estate is a team sport. You might certainly identify with the quarterback role, but the reality is that it takes a lot of talent and timing to score big. Not everything is going to go perfectly every time. The Atlanta Falcons are extremely talented and have top players. They’ve proven that they could play at that level, but yet they didn’t win.

No doubt they’ll take a few days to wallow in all the mistakes, but then they will begin to examine their mistakes strategically to learn from them. If you are planning on making a long term career in Real Estate, you have to be willing to do post game analysis every time a play doesn’t go your way. If you don’t, you’ll never have the benefit of preventing it from happening again.
