Top Safety Apps for Realtors

Staying Safe: The Top Safety Apps for Realtors

By Paul Gardner | Industry Topics | Comments are Closed | 13 June, 2017 | 0

As a Realtor, you’re constantly showing listings to prospective buyers—sometimes at less-than-favorable hours of the day. While most of your time showing homes to clients is uneventful, it’s best to be cautious when dealing with strangers.

The good news is that technology has adapted to help keep real estate agents like you safer during work.Take a look below, where we’ve listed some of the most popular safety apps available for Realtors.

Guardly

If you are looking for a simpler, yet effective mobile tracking app with a free version, Guardly is a great option. The free version is available for iPhone, Android, Blackberry and other products.

First, you create an account and input your emergency contact information. The app then notifies your contacts of your GPS location as you roam around with prospective clients. If your emergency contacts notice that you have not changed locations recently—or that you are not in a spot where you are supposed to be—they can contact you to confirm that you’re safe.

Agents Armor

Available for less than $50, Agents Armor is an effective app that can keep you safe in the field. It notifies your broker and emergency contacts when you are headed out to a showing. If you do not check in with the app regularly, it will notify your emergency contacts of your last known GPS location so that they can notify authorities to take action.

BMonitored

BMonitored is another free app that’s handy in the field. Turn this app on when preparing to meet with a client. It will require you to enter a PIN that you have pre-selected at regular intervals, and you can set the intervals based on your preference. If you fail to enter the PIN, your emergency contacts listed in the app will be notified. Your GPS coordinates will be provided to them via text message or email.

RealAlert

RealAlert is an app that was specifically designed by a real estate agent, so it should have the functionality you need. It’s available for download for only $1.99 and works with iPhones, as well as Android devices.

Through the app, you can locate the nearest hospital to your location, notify a friend that something has happened to you with a single tap, call 911 with one gesture or even record notes about suspicious activity that may be used later by authorities.

HomeSnap Pro

For less than $30, HomeSnap Pro is an excellent resource that can help keep you safe. This app allows you to set a timer at regular intervals—when the timer goes off, your emergency contacts will be notified that you may be in distress.

In the event a meeting with a client goes wayside, you can also send a one-tap distress signal to your emergency contacts. Both of these messages to your emergency contacts will contain your location details.

LifeLine Response

The LifeLine Response app is available for use with a $9.99 per year subscription. This is a patented app that requires responses through the app using code and natural responses. Your codes can be used to silently alert authorities that you are in danger or to emit a loud emergency sound that may cause an aggressor to retreat. Their response verification center can also contact you directly to determine if you need 911 assistance.

IcePics

This app is available for iPhone at only $2.99, though it doesn’t work as well with other devices. Through this app, you can take a picture of the property where you are located or the client who is threatening you. The app will send the photo and your GPS coordinates to your emergency contacts with a single push of a button on your phone.

SafeTrec

If you are looking for an affordable app to download to your Android phone, SafeTrec may be ideal. The basic version of this app is free to download, or you can pay $9.95 per month for more sophisticated features. Through this app, you can send your GPS location in a panic alert message to your contacts via phone or text.

Moby

Moby has a free, basic app for Blackberry and iPhone users, or you can upgrade to the premium version for $9.95 per month. This app can be set to ask if you are OK at regular intervals throughout a home tour. It also allows you to easily share your location with selected individuals so that other people always know where you are. In the event of an emergency, emergency contacts or authorities can easily be notified through the app.

With numerous safety apps available to choose from, you can easily try out several to see which ones work best for you. It is wise to notify your emergency contacts that they may receive a notice from you and how to respond in an emergency situation.
